Stormbringer is an orange offensive ship specializing in the Blazing and Drowning classes. It can only be purchased in the beginning of Season 2 and is no longer available for purchase after that. You can craft Stormbringer, but the quality of the crafted ship will be random, ranging from Blue, Purple, to Orange. Additionally, the skills will be assigned randomly, so the crafted Stormbringer may not have the same quality skills as the purchased version. You can craft Stormbringer multiple times by obtaining the necessary parts from Cartographer's Corner and Rogue's Retailer, and you also have the option to replace one of the skills on the crafted ship.

General Basic Skill Pool

Every ship may have skills from the general basic skills pool. For example, when you craft a Warhammer, the game will provide you with three random basic skills from the Unique Skills of Warhammer and the General Skills pool. General Skills are divided into four categories: Offensive, Defensive, PVE, both Offensive and Defensive. We will attempt to interpret all of the general skills below and rank them within these categories. It's up to you to choose between them based on whether you want your ship to be fully offensive or have some defensive capabilities as well.

Offensive

THUNDEROUS FURY.png

THUNDEROUS FURY

Damage

The ship deals 5/7/12% more Damage of all types.

Comments:

By increasing damage of all types, this skill boosts the attack-to-damage ratio of your heroes' skills and the basic attack damage output of your ships.

PRECISE ARMOR-PIERCING.png

PRECISE ARMOR-PIERCING

Impact

Increases the ship's Impact by 10/14/24%.

Comments:

This skill enhances armor-piercing by boosting Impact, which ignores a portion of the enemy targets' armor and defenses.

PURE GUNPOWDER.png

PURE GUNPOWDER

Attack

Increases the ship's Attack by 5/7/12%.

Comments:

This skill increases the attack of your ship overall, boosting both the heroes, sailors and the ship's attack.

DEADLY BROADSIDE.png

Attack | Critical Rate

DEADLY BROADSIDE

Increases the ship's Attack by 3/4/8% and its Critical Rate by 2/4/5%.

Comments:

This skill enhances Attack by 8%, which is a solid boost considering the highest available ratio in the general skills pool is 12%. Additionally, it increases the Critical Rate by 5% if the skill is of orange quality. However, the skill is only effective if you already have a high Critical Rate (at least 75%) and substantial Critical Damage. Otherwise, it's not recommended for your ship.

LARGE CALIBER BROADSIDES.png

Attack | Critical Damage

LARGE CALIBER BROADSIDES

Increases the ship's Attack by 3/4/8%, and its Critical Damage by 4/8/10%.

Comments:

This skill enhances Attack by 8%, which is still a good ratio, with the highest available ratio in the general skills pool being 12%. It also increases the Critical Damage by 10% if the skill is of orange quality. However, the skill is only effective if you have a high Critical Rate (at least 75%) and good Critical Damage. Otherwise, it is not recommended for your ship.

ENHANCED ARMOR-PIERCING.png

Attack | Impact

ENHANCED ARMOR-PIERCING

Increases the ship's Attack by 3/4/6%, and its Impact by 4/8/12%.

Comments:

Enhancing both Attack and Impact, this skill is one of the best for damage output, as it ignores a portion of the target's armor and increases attack.

HEAVY ARTILLERY.png

Basic Attack

HEAVY ARTILLERY

Lengthens the interval of the ship's Basic Attacks is increased by 0.5/0.5/1 sec, but increases the ship's Basic Attack Damage by 20/35/70%.

Comments:

This skill is best suited for ships with heroes aboard who enhance basic attacks. It works particularly well on the ship Goddess Satjit with Artillery heroes such as Ophelia, Qi Lanting, Sharky, Chizuru, etc. It's not really recommended for other ships.

PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKE.png

Damage

PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKE

The ship deals 15/20/30% more Damage of all types. But the boost will be reduced by 3/4/6% after each Skill release performed by Heroes aboard. The boost will be reduced up to 4 times.

Comments:

This skill looks like it provides good damage output, but it drops to 6% within 5 to 10 seconds, which is too quick to be considered as effective early damage. Overall, it's not a recommended skill.

GLASS CANNON.png

Impact

Glass Cannon

Increases the ship's Impact by 14/20/30%, but reduces Armor by 7/10/15%.

Comments:

This skill offers one of the best Impact Bonuses but reduces your ship's armor in return. It is only beneficial if your ships have good durability enhanced by other ships in your fleet, such as Ahab's shields or Cordelia's healing. However, if you feel that your fleet's durability is already average in battles, this skill is not recommended.

LAST STAND.png

Critical Rate

LAST STAND

Increases the ship's Critical Rate by 8/10/15%, but reduces Critical Resistance by 6/8/12%.

Comments:

This skill offers one of the best Critical Rate Bonuses but reduces your ship's Critical Resistance in return. Critical Resistance relates to your ship's defenses, reducing the damage received when the enemy lands a critical hit. It is beneficial only if your ships have good durability enhanced by other ships in your fleet, such as Ahab's shields or Cordelia's healing. However, if you feel that your fleet's durability is already average in battles, this skill is not recommended. Also, this skill is only effective if you have a high Critical Rate (at least 75%) and good Critical Damage; otherwise, it's not recommended.

STEALTHY MANEUVERS.png

STEALTHY MANEUVERS

Lower Aggro

Decreases the ship's Aggro by 12/18/28.

Comments:

This skill is purely defensive as it decreases aggro, meaning the enemy fleet is less likely to target the ship with reduced aggro.

Defensive

SHOTGUN WEAPONS.png

Reactive Damage

SHOTGUN WEAPONS

The ship deals 5/10/15% more Splashing Damage.

Comments:

The game states that "Splash Damage applies exclusively to fleets attacking you, excluding your current target fleet. When your ship is in 'Pounce' mode, it inflicts one splash damage to random ships in surrounding fleets that are attacking you." In essence, Splash Damage occurs when you're under attack by multiple enemies, affecting all attacking fleets except the one you're actively targeting.

We lack precise information about what 'splash damage' means in the game—whether it depends on the damage received from enemies, the damage dealt by your ship, or if it has a standard base damage that can increase with bonuses. We can speculate on two scenarios: Firstly, it might function as a reactive damage mechanism seen in other games, where your targeted ship deals a percentage of the damage it receives back to the attacker. Alternatively, in the second scenario, when the ship deals damage to a fleet, a percentage of that damage bounce to all nearby fleets.

In either scenario, it functions as a defensive skill that enhances your damage output when targeted by multiple enemies. To test its effectiveness, one could attack multiple Armed Freighters and observe the amount of HP lost from those not directly targeted.

REVENGE FERVOR.png

Reactive Damage

REVENGE FERVOR

For every 1 fleet attacking on the fleet you are in, increases your Splashing Damage by 2/4/6%. The effect can stack up to 3 times.

Offensive & Defensive

DEFENSIVELY OFFENSE.png

Damage | Durability

DEFENSIVELY OFFENSE

The ship deals 5/8/12% more Damage of all types. When the remaining HP falls below 50%, the effect will be adjusted to this: The ship receives 5/8/12% less Damage of all types.

Comments:

This skill is particularly effective because its effect varies with your battle status. When your ship is healthy, it provides a 12% damage bonus, equivalent to the highest bonuses offered by general skills. As your ship's HP drops below 50%, it shifts to boosting your armor, extending your ship's longevity in battle.

PvE

ART OF WAR.png

Attack | PvE Damage

ART OF WAR

Increases the ship's Attack by 4/6/10%, and the ship can deal 4/6/10% more Damage of all types to non-player ships.

Comments:

This skill can be a viable option, providing a 10% Attack Bonus, slightly less than the highest possible damage bonus of 12% offered by general skills. However, its primary effectiveness lies in combating PvE (non-player) targets.

WAR TACTICS.png

PvE Damage

WAR TACTICS

Increases the ship's Damage of all types by 10/14/25% to non-player ships.

Comments:

This skill bonus is effective solely against PvE (non-player) targets and holds no utility in PvP (player versus player) battles.

FINAL COMMENTS

Here are the top 5 skills listed without ranking:

-Defensively Offense (Attack Bonus and Increased Defenses)

-Enhanced Armor-Piercing (Attack and Impact Bonus)

-Precise Armor-Piercing (Impact Bonus)

-Pure Gunpowder (Attack Bonus)

-Thunderous Fury (Damage Bonus)

Begin by assessing the attributes of your fleet and its ships. Determine whether Attack Bonus or Damage Bonus yields better results for your ships. If your fleet lacks Armor-Piercing skills from heroes or ships, Impact Bonuses become crucial. Given the game's current meta favoring tanky flagships that bolster fleet armor and defenses, Armor-Piercing skills are essential.

Stealthy Maneuvers (reduces aggro) is highly beneficial if you lack durability and are aiming to increase your defenses.

Heavy Artillery is most effective on ships with heroes who enhance basic attacks, especially on Goddess Satjit when paired with Artillery heroes such as Ophelia, Qi Lanting, Sharky, and Chizuru. It's generally not recommended for other ships.

Shotgun Weapons and Revenge Fervor revolve around Splash Damage. Due to limited information on how Splash Damage performs, it's unclear whether these skills offer superior benefits compared to other Attack or Damage Bonuses.

Skills like Deadly Broadside and Large Caliber Broadsides rely on your ship's Critical Damage and Critical Rate attributes. These skills are effective only when you have a high Critical Rate (at least 75%) and significant Critical Damage. Both attributes must be balanced, as having 100% Critical Rate with low Critical Damage only marginally increases damage. Similarly, high Critical Damage is ineffective without a sufficiently high chance to land Critical Hits.

Glass Cannon and Last Stand are not recommended because they lower your defenses while increasing your damage output. This can be disadvantageous, especially since enemies may already possess skills that reduce your defenses. Adding further negative effects on yourself only makes it easier for the enemy to deal more damage to you.

Pre-Emptive Strike looks like it provides good damage output, but it drops to 6% within 5 to 10 seconds, which is too quick to be considered as effective early damage. Overall, it's not a recommended skill.

Art of War can be an alternative option, offering a 10% Attack Bonus, slightly less than the highest possible damage bonus of 12% offered by general skills. However, its primary effectiveness is in combatting PvE (non-player) targets. On the other hand, War Tactics is effective exclusively against PvE (non-player) targets and has no utility in PvP (player versus player) battles.
